The Division of Science and Mathematics Education offers summer courses designed to deepen your understanding of science for both K-8 and Secondary teachers.  Take just one course or apply courses towards a Master of Arts in Teaching – General Science, Masters of Science in Physical Science or a Masters of Science in Biological Science.

SME 829   Everyday Physics (3 credits)

SME 833   Rocks, Minerals and Fossils (3 credits)

For 7-12 Certified Science Teachers:

SME 865   Technology for Teachers (2 credits)

SME 862   Physics for Teachers (3 credits)

SME 866   Integrated Science for Teachers (3 credits)

SME 874   Field Ecology for Teachers (7 credits)

Courses can be taken individually or as a part of one of our Masters Programs.

All courses held on MSU’s campus except for SME 874, which will be held at MSU’s Kellogg Biological Station in Battle Creek, MI.

Field Ecology for Teachers

June 16 – July 18, 2008

7 credits

Participants will:

  • Observe, question and test hypothesis related to ecosystems
  • Design experiments using modern field techniques
  • Interpret and analyze field data
  • Apply new knowledge to classroom situations
Course can be applied to our M.S. Program in Biological Science for teachers. 
Class is held at MSU’s Kellogg Biological Station in Battle Creek, MI.  Living accommodations on site.
