The mission of the Division of Science and Mathematics Education (DSME) is to improve mathematics and science learning and teaching at all levels through research and design in instruction, technology-based instructional materials, and professional and faculty development.
DSME was founded at Michigan State University in 1989 and is co-administered by the College of Natural Science and the College of Education. DSME is supported by the Provost's Office, the colleges and the Towsley Foundation, with federal and foundation funding for projects totaling more than $40 million dollars. Faculty members with partial appointments in various departments across the university, academic specialists, postdoctoral associates, graduate and undergraduate students, and professional and clerical staff work together in DSME in support of the division's mission.
